Turnabout

The left-leaning Kerim Friedman of Keywords transcribes some dialogue from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart with seemingly little sense of irony.

ROB CORDDRY
Jon, there's no question that what took place in that prison was horrible, but the Arab World needs to realize that...we shouldn't be judged on actions. It's our principles that matter, our inspiring abstract notions.

And why not?

If Islam cannot be held responsible for terrorism because, as a "religion of peace," it has "nothing to do with terrorism" then America, because of its fine ideals, has nothing to do with Abu Ghraib, or slavery, or the extermination of Native Americans. Or Judaism with Israel. Or Christianity with the Crusades.

What's good for the goose, baby, what's good for the goose.

UPDATE: Kerim feels that my excerpt doesn't do the joke justice. Given the hard work that goes into transcription, I'm going to send the traffic Kerim's way instead of putting the entire quote here myself.
